Despite blistering heat and with a player short, Staveley managed to sweat themselves to a victory.
The midfield earned their joint player of the match with Anna, Sharon and Loz covering the pitch. The slick passing and the game plan was even praised by the opposite umpire.
After some pressure from Belper, Staveley had a great move which ended with a short that was beautifully finished by Lauren Walton.
Staveley had now found their feet and were enjoying the possession and the dedication of Andrea Rogers who had pulled her quad was outstanding and after some excellent passing Andrea made it two.
Staveley enjoyed a lot of possession in the heat but Belper hit back with some well worked play to pull one back.
This didn’t get Staveley down with a well worked short and an incredible shot into the top corner from Lauren Walton to make it 3-1 at half time.
After the break the heat started to take it’s toll with everyone starting to get sluggish. But we persevered and a good competitive game with a goal from Vaughany to send us on our way to victory. After a battle with keeper Charlie Calderbank, Belper managed to scrape one back.
Belper battled on and with some good work from Charlie and a save off the line from Emma Chapman Staveley soldiered on.
Staveley piled on the pressure in the last stretch of the game and Andrea Rogers made it five to finish the game on a high to continue Staveley’s winning start to the season.
