It’s all about the boobs 21st January 2012

It was a v windy morning when Staveley seconds convened for their first match of 2012; a plate fixture against Burton.

Staveley started strong with some great attacking moves but soon Burton upped there game, along with levels of aggression. Gina took her first one for the team about 20 minutes in with a ball to the shoulder. But hard as nails Ribena took it like a man and came back fighting.

Burton’s first goal came shortly after, it was a lucky one. Half time ensued.

The half time talk was led by keeper Fran as Vice Captain Kerry had to go for a quick wee. The main issue, aggression. We needed some, and quick!

The rallying talk paid off with Staveley rushing the Burton defence. Sam delivered a supremely magnificent ball into the D, absolutely superbly placed ready for Kelly to smack it in. Boom!

Unfortunately, Burton weren’t going down easily and found the back of the net again during a shit corner, I mean short corner, making it 2-1.

Next it was Ginas turn to take another one for the team. This time it was a really really really hard ball to the ankle. We all felt that one! Ouch!

Staveley went on to ALMOST bag another goal. Unfortunately, it came off Emma’s leg and not her stick and the umpire spotted it. Rubbish.

The whirly windy match ended 2-1, with a sad Staveley, with cold boobs, and out of the plate. I always thought bowls were much better anyway.

Staveley 1- 2 Burton
